Malwarebytes Web Protection Review
Malwarebytes is a fantastic product but it does have some shortcomings that prevent it from being a great option for everyone. It costs more for a single-device subscription than some of its competitors. It’s also not as robust in terms of features as some other models.
Malwarebytes has multiple layers of protection, including protection against ransomware, web security Adware protection, malware and PUP (potentially unwanted programs) detection and removal. It is a reliable security tool with real-world capabilities. AV Comparatives tests consistently rate it as one of the top products in its class (August 2022 – October 2022).
Paid subscribers are able to access all of these features and more. They can control the software’s settings by clicking the corkscrew icon at the bottom-right corner on their dashboard. It opens a tab with seven sections that allow you to alter the program based on your preferences. These include notifications, how often and at what times it is checking for updates to threat intelligence and scan options, as well as other preferences for visuals, including the theme.
The premium version of the software comes with advanced features like exploit protection, which helps to stop attacks that take advantage of weaknesses and bugs in applications and systems. Malwarebytes also identifies and blocks browser lockers, prevents in-browser cryptojackers, and halts other scams attempting to take your personal information or money online. It is also able additional resources to identify and block phishing websites. It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t offer the same type of protection against identity theft that some of its competitors do however that will change soon since it recently acquired Cyrus Security, a company that provides those services.
